At the time this article was written, we were excited to begin something new in the Cook Islands! Take a read.
We are so thankful, God is in control! While we try to navigate this new world that we’re in, plans are constantly changing. However, we’re really excited to be embarking on a new adventure! On the 18th August 2021, our Executive Director, Stephen McCurdy and our Missions Ambassador, James McKenzie-Wiley, will be flying to the Cook Islands for a 10 day vision trip!
While there, they will be visiting our missionary, Chuni Pema, who is serving in Rarotonga in a number of different ministries including church planting. He has been part of three church plants around the island since moving there in September 2020.
Stephen and James will also be visiting other islands on their trip, with the aim to meet new people and see their needs. Through this, we hope to venture into sending short term teams in the near future! Please pray as we prepare this exciting opportunity!
Since then, we have sent a media focused short term team to capture the work God was doing in the Cook Islands. Then in 2023, our HOPE61 trainer Imogen Cook, and administrator Karen Moar, travelled over to raise awareness of human trafficking and to encourage people in preventing it.
At the end of 2023, our missionary, Chuni Pena decided to retire from OMS but continues to live and minister on the island of Rarotonga. He is still our point of contact for any mission trips God has planned for us!
If the Cook Islands is a place on your heart to serve, we would love to chat with you more! Contact us and we’ll get in touch as soon as we can!
