Have you ever tried to build something from scratch? Maybe you’re a professional builder and you do it all the time, or maybe you just love building and get some sort of project going once in a while. Some of us like to start new things all the time, but are not very good at finishing them. Once Andrew came across an interesting article about the Cathedral of Magdeburg and how it was built. It was the first Gothic cathedral in Germany and was the tallest for a long time. The most interesting fact is that it was constructed over a period of 300 years. You might be thinking, what has all this got to do with our ministry in Russia?
Well, once on a prayer walk, God used that piece of information to speak to us. We were walking around our area and dreaming. Dreaming of what this region will look like when people begin to be saved. When suddenly Andrew felt as if God was saying, “What if it will happen, but not in your lifetime? Will you still continue to pray for these people now and minister to them now? The first workers who started to build the Cathedral of Magdeburg never saw the end result. Will you be obedient to Me and do as they did, laying the foundation and doing the work you were asked to do?” These are tough questions. We all like seeing results – they make us feel good, they make us feel important, they also make us feel proud (or prideful?). We would love to use this space in the ITH magazine and report hundreds of salvations, or multiplying house churches, but God keeps reminding us of one thing – “Will you be obedient to My call and continue to do what I have asked from you?”
