June 2006.

May Events: Owen and Mark took the Saraguro leaders to Milagro (near Guayaquil) to visit a church using the same teaching material that is being used here in the Oriente. They were away 5 days plus a day at the beach also. This was a real treat, as several of the leaders had not seen the ocean before. The leaders came back enthused and now 2 of the leaders are discipling others and using the material with more enthusiasm.

Owen continues to assist in the building of the guinea pig sheds. Mark and Owen helping them to prepare for the first batch of guinea pigs arriving on the 7th July. The numbers will be built up to over 800 per shed, breeding from these. We are encouraged by their unity and desire to learn new skills, including business and financial management.

We had a special visit from 8 ''kiwis'' who came to do block-laying, painting plastering, and other work on a church in Yantzaza. God used them in many ways to minister to the people. They were welcomed by the church people and built strong relationships despite the language barrier. They were a blessing to us as well. It was fortunate that there was a cool spell in the weather while they were here - however the team didn’t appreciate this ''cold spell''. To them it was ‘very hot and humid, and could not understand why us ‘locals’ were wearing jerseys. They worked very hard despite the heat, the stomach bugs, and the strange foods. The team even had a guinea pig celebration dinner served by the church folk.

The ladies meetings are continuing every second Saturday and we are getting more and more attending, so that is encouraging. The women especially enjoy learning the crafts and the cooking.

June Events: Prayer warriors Jerry and Clara Mattocks from USA visited us 15th – 19th to pray with churches, pastors, workers and missionaries, to identify spiritual strongholds in order to develop a strategic prayer strategy to bind and destroy the forces of evil here in the area.

Health Update – Avalon:  After another visit to Quito and another CAT scan, a large infection has been found in the sinus area, on the left side. After taking a very strong antibiotic she will return to Quito in July to see if it has cleared up.

Prayer Needs:

ÿ That Avalon’s infection will clear up and the other symptoms will be healed as well.

ÿ For stamina for Owen.

ÿ Pray for Avalon in the organising of the Ecuador Missionary Field Retreat in July.

ÿ For the arrival of a Columbian couple coming in July to help in the ministry long-term.

ÿ For the transition in the ministry when the Pavelka family leave in September for 6 years back in NZ.

Praise Points:

*We thank you for your generous giving that has enabled our support account to be back up to the required amount.

*Welcome to our new supporters.

*Safe arrival of another grandson born in June.

Blesssings,
